Kent County was awarded more than $127 million in ARPA funding. These funds provide us a rare opportunity to make strategic long-term investments, both within the County organization and throughout our county as a region.

Fairground Ribbon Cutting

Kent County Youth Agricultural Association

$6 million was allocated to the Kent County Youth Agricultural Association, transforming a former Lowell Township golf course into a premier agriculture and arts and culture venue. Part of a $36 million campaign, phase one completed infrastructure improvements, campgrounds, and seven exhibit buildings in time for the 2023 Kent County Youth Fair.

Grand Rapids Apartments

Kent County Affordable Housing Loan Fund

$17.5 million was allocated to address the affordable housing shortage in Kent County. Selecting IFF to administer the fund, their team is actively engaging with developers, showcasing a strong pipeline of projects. Stay tuned for updates!


Grand Rapids African American Health Institute (GRAAHI)

$1 million was allocated to GRAAHI’s Sickle Cell Disease Blood Donors Initiative, addressing the impact on the African American community through tailored research, trainings, and materials. They are also combating the low rate of Black blood donors by hosting blood drives.
